Our client, a leading engineering company providing safety and environmental solutions to the international market, is looking for a 'hands on' Quality Technician. This is a temporary position to start with but could go permanent after 6 months with a salary range of GBP24433 to GBP30537

The role primarily falls into two main areas: quality control of welded/fabricated assemblies and electro mechanical, automotive type components. Applications will be considered from candidates with either of these skill sets as additional training will be given.

Goods inwards inspection, dimensionally and visually verifying supplied product meets the acceptance criteria and is supported by the correct documentation
Patrol inspection of product builds, applying build acceptance criteria for wiring, mechanical fitment and good workmanship standards throughout the build stages. Liaising with Production operators to conduct independent verifications at set gateway points during the build.
Conducting pressure testing of welded assemblies; inspection of welds quality for size, position and integrity
Pre delivery Inspection of in-house manufactured, welded assemblies and machined components ensuring dimensional and visual conformance.
Quality departmental administrative tasks, including maintenance of quality records to demonstrate conformance and report performance, quality management system document control, product labelling etc.
Process and product auditing
Nonconformance reporting, investigation and containment (supported by Quality Engineers ) Administration of Calibration system; conducting in-house calibrations of measuring and test equipment, sending equipment to external calibration houses, reviewing and acting on calibration results and record keeping
Represent the department at Process Improvement Dialogue and Continuous Improvement meetings Support Quality Engineers in Quality projects and investigations
Support Test Technicians with Production Testing


Ideally having trained and worked in an Electro-Mechanical Engineering role, possibly within the Automotive Industry (or its supply base) or have worked as a welding inspector on fabricated components.
Previous experience of working within and Quality Control / Quality Assurance role Low to medium volume production, in a regulated design to order business.
Awareness of ISO 9001
A high level of confidence reading Engineering drawings and a good level of understanding of metrology and how to apply it.
Experience of conducting product testing; ideally hydrostatic pressure testing or conductivity and
insulation checks
Experience of welding and fabrication, machining and painting
Holding a Welding Inspection certificate or have suitable experience of the same
Experience of the electronics industry and electrical wiring
Fork Lift Driving an advantage Having a can do attitude
Attention to detail and having a methodical approach High level of spoken and written English.

For PAYE workers there will be 33 days paid holiday, including Bank Holidays
