Shift Manager

New opportunity not to be missed! Courier Logistics have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Shift Manager to join our growing team based at our Rotherham depot. Working on a full time, permanent basis, the successful Shift Manager will receive a competitive salary of £26,000 per annum plus benefits.

Shift Manager Objectives

- Effective management of APC and Pallet Track operations, Warehouse and Driving Personnel.

Your duties as a Shift Manager would include:

AM Shift:

- Check APC and Pallet Track routing and deal with any issues that arise
- Check and rectify any driver issues, i.e weight, bul- Check absence and inform by email payroll and Operations Manager daily
- Ensure Pallet track vehicles are loaded safely and on time
- Allocate work to spare drivers both APC and Pallet track in an efficient manner (Time, Cost etc)
- Email Operations and Operations Manager with any changes and issues
- Regular contact with Operations at all times to ensure the runs are cost effective
- Ensure all FLT’ and Skylift checks are completed daily and up to date
- Second runs are out and correct
- Deal with any issues relating to storage, haulage jobs and drivers
- Attend daily Operations meetings

PM Shift:

- Read handover from AM shift and emails and action any issues
- Communicate with Customer Operations to check for driver issues on APC or Pallet Track
- Identify customers with large amounts of freight sending through APC and Pallet Track
- Check holiday allocations, TMS and uniform requests
- Ensure warehouse is ready for PM sortation and any specific jobs are completed
- Ensure all collections are completed accordingly and scanned and segregated correctly
- Check the driver debrief is being completed correctly
- Monito haulage jobs
- Ensure that all trunks are loaded, scanned and depart on time
- Ensure all vehicles are checked for freight and waste
- Ensure both APC and Pallet Track warehouses are clean and tidy
- Email trunk depart times to relevant people
- Complete a thorough handover with the Night Shift Manager also email the handover to the relevant people and plan for the following day
- Attend daily Operations meetings

Our ideal Shift Manager will have:

- Previous experience within the logistics and parcel industry is required at a supervisory or managerial level
- Excellent general knowledge of the ‘S’ postcode
- Ability to adapt and work well under pressure, changing plans and reorganising workload to suit the immediate demands of the business
- Management of people ensuring enough resources are in place to facilitate the smooth running of the operation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, must be PC literate with the ability to navigate Microsoft programmes
- Flexibility to work beyond set hours the meet the demands of the business
- Full UK driving licence required

Working Hours: 05.00 - 14.30 (AM) shift and 14.00 – 21.30 (PM) shift, Monday to Friday with flexibility to support the needs of the business. You are also entitled to a ½ unpaid break.  Saturday mornings will be worked on a rota basis
