This not-for-profit organisation is looking to recruit a Safeguarding Officer. The Safeguarding Officer will respond to safeguarding concerns raised with the Safeguarding Unit and assist in the management of the investigation of safeguarding allegations made against members of staff, volunteers or members of the organisation.

Specific Responsibilities
1. Manage the investigation of, and response to, safeguarding concerns received by the Safeguarding Unit in accordance with the Safeguarding and Member Welfare Policy.
2. Record safeguarding concerns on their systems and ensure that there is an auditable record of concerns received and actions taken.
3. Escalate safeguarding allegations to the Safeguarding Manager and support the management of investigations into safeguarding allegations.
4. Make referrals to police and/or local authority services for children and adults in compliance with statutory guidelines and the Safeguarding Policy.
5. Review the status of safeguarding reports and investigations to ensure that they are resolved in a timely fashion and provide a regular report of ongoing allegations and concerns to the Safeguarding Manager.
6. Assist Regional Safeguarding Leads and other colleagues with advice and guidance in relation to safeguarding concerns.
7. Provide advice on all safeguarding queries which are received by the Safeguarding Unit in various formats, requiring knowledge of safeguarding legislation and national guidelines and the party's Safeguarding and Member Welfare Policy, Code of Conduct and procedures.
8. Provide training and support to stakeholders at all levels of the party on safeguarding including producing support materials for stakeholders.
9. Supporting the delivery of safeguarding training across the organisation including face to face training and the party's e-learning system.
10. Support the planning and delivery of safeguarding at their events including Annual Conference, regional conferences and National Youth Conference.
11. To be prepared to travel to all regions of the party to provide support as required.
12. To complete such other duties as assigned by the Director of HR & Safeguarding or the Safeguarding Manager.

The successful candidate will have understanding of legislation, regulated frameworks and standards in relation to Safeguarding, Child Protection, Adults at Risk protection and DBS/Disclosure Scotland checks. They will have experience making referrals to, and communicating with, the police, local authority and/or other statutory agencies. They will be able to structure and write concise reports, letters and written guidance material.
