An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a highly motivated and dynamic team in a long standing and rapidly expanding IT support company based in Frome, Somerset. This position is initially maternity cover but could lead to a longer term job offer.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Manage the Accounts Receivable processes including supporting the Accounts Assistant with complex agreements, liaising with Solution Team, and escalating debts.
- Manage the Accounts Payable including overseeing the invoicing matching, higher value invoice approval, and authorize invoices due.
Payroll
- Pay Employee Expenses signed off by Manager
- Collate information from department heads and run monthly payroll
- Oversee Bank Reconciliation, including more complex transactions and follow up.
- Check VAT is allocated appropriately & Submit Quarterly VAT Return
- Management Accounts preparation including P&L review and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Manage Accounts Assistant
- Investigate and resolve more complex inquiries.
- Liaise with HR to ensure upkeep of company policies and staff contracts

Qualifications and Skills

- AAT qualified or other accounts certification.
- 2 years of accounting or finance related experience.
- Solid understanding of a general ledger accounts (Sage or Xero preferred)
- Proficient in general office applications and accounting software (particularly Word & Excel)
- Excellent understanding of the accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations to assist staff.
- Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly.
- Organisational skills necessary and able to work to a deadline
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast moving environment.
- Training provided for the ConnectWise University and the Xero Accounts system.
- Candidates should be able to pick up balance sheet reconciliations from schedules provided and assist in the P&L preparations for month end management accounts, providing additional information when prompted by analysing accounting data, support from the Finance - Director will be available. Candidates should have a drive to learn and achieve growth in the role
