Managing Editor

As Managing Editor with our client you’ll be in charge of setting and delivering the brand’s content strategy, coordinating a team of writers, journalists and PR officers, and setting the tone and themes that will run through our websites and publications.

You will lead the editorial team and work collaboratively with the marketing, product development and sales teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Create and deliver a content strategy that provides year-on-year growth in website traffic and engagement;
  • Manage content planning across our websites and publications;
  • Manage and coordinate the editorial team to produce high quality content across our different platforms;
  • Use technology to ensure we provide the best quality content in the marketplace;
  • Develop your team to get the most out of them.

What sort of a person are we looking for, for the Managing editor role?

  • Experience of working in a position of responsibility in an editorial capacity;
  • Awareness of the latest digital and print content trends;
  • An exceptional eye for detail;
  • A proven track record of growing and engaging with large digital audiences;
  • Familiarity with social media channels and the 16-24 year old marketplace;
  • A passion for helping young people;
  • Incredibly strong organisational skills.

Skills and responsibilities for a Managing Editor

  • Developing a content plan and forward features list;
  • Coordinating a team of writers, proof-readers, journalists and PR officers to help you implement your strategy;
  • Liaise with printers and distributors to deliver the projects on time and on budget;
  • Able to plan ahead, looking at the big picture and understanding business needs;
  • Excellent knowledge of editorial analytics and reporting;
  • Organising the delivery of our newspapers and other print publications;
  • Maintain and develop our style guide to ensure editorial consistency.

Part-time role: 2 days per week or equivalent number of hours, such as 3 hours per day. Flexible working offered. Opportunities to work partly from home. We can be pretty flexible to fit around your lifestyle.

Location: Central London, very close to Old Street tube station.
