The Company:
Our client is an advanced engineering business, involved in the design, development and manufacture of special purpose capital equipment as well as the provision of aftermarket spares and services. With a long history of innovation in developing metalforming, clay preparation and material handling applications, the group has also invested in the advancement of composite technologies. 

With a broad international customer base, they sell products and services into a diverse range of industries including the aerospace, automotive, manufacturing and environmental sectors.

Due to their continued success, they are now looking for an experienced Service Engineer, covering the M62 Corridor, and occasionally the North East.

The Service Engineer Role:
As the Service Engineer, you will be responsible for problem solving, fault finding and preventative maintenance on various types of machinery, found in Fabricating, Sheet Metal and general machine shops, on manually operated, NC and CNC Controls.

Key Responsibilities of the Service Engineer:

  • Be available at short notice to travel throughout the UK on breakdowns
  • Understand and work from Engineering Drawings
  • Carry out periodic service checks on customers’ equipment
  • Safely working from cherry-pickers, scaffolding and other platforms in compliance with Working at Height Regulations (WAHR). (Training will be given)
  • Safe use and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with COSHH regulations
  • Observe and comply with Health & Safety and security requirements at all times
  • Responsible for the quality of the work produced and ensure that all relevant quality procedures are understood and adhered to
  • Actively pursue continuous improvements in assembly methods and techniques and make recommendations for their implementation when appropriate
  • Ensure that all equipment is adequately maintained and regularly checked
  • Maintain tidiness in the workplace, company vehicles and good standards of housekeeping
  • Take care of company measuring equipment and report on any items out of calibration

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Apprentice Trained Mechanical Engineer
  • Electrical and or Hydraulic experience an advantage
  • Have a working understanding of the PUWER legislation (extra training can be given)
  • Must have worked on relevant machinery and be able to diagnose and solve problems (knowledge of CNC Systems Siemens, Huco, Cybelec, Robosoft beneficial)
  • Good communicator, literate and numerate
  • Able to work on own initiative, and under pressure
