We are seeking a substantially experienced Principal Policy and Projects Officer to take a leading role in transforming and improving strategy across key areas of work and drive cross-cutting council-wide outcomes. The post holder will confidently deliver projects with high levels of complexity or risk to bring about effective and positive change whilst ensuring the organisation is brought along the journey. Your work will be diverse but initially we would see you focusing on taking forward key elements of our housing strategy work (though we do not require a particular background in that area).

You will be engaging with a range of stakeholders including political and senior leaders, as well as residents to implement innovative and effective policies and strategies. You will take an evidence-based approach, proactively researching a variety of data to measure outcomes and inform decision making. With the development of the Camden 2025 Plan underway, this role is crucial in enhancing the Council's services and priorities across a variety of disciplines and work streams.

The successful candidate will have a recognised qualification in project management/improvement discipline or substantial equivalent experience along with strong knowledge of risk management.

You will take a future focussed approach to regularly delivering service redesigns and reviews, whilst being able to adapt to different environments and teams across the Council.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyse data and present complex information in a clear and accessible manner to a range of audiences.

Alongside this, you will have experience in working in one or more of these areas:
  • Experience and understanding of local government
  • Engagement
  • Strategic and financial planning, development, implementation and monitoring
  • Data, research, performance management and monitoring - ability to handle large datasets
  • Support for inspection
  • Project and risk management
  • Service review and redesign
  • Experience of session facilitation.
