Employment Engagement Officer
Salary: £26,755 - £31,297
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term or internal secondment to 31 December 2018
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.
This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.
Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands. All our roles will truly have an impact on the whole of our region.
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), the transport arm of the WMCA, is a rapidly growing authority and fast emerging as a standard setter in the industry - in October 2017 we became only the second ever to win the 'City-Region Transport Authority of the Year' Award twice in a row.
Working closely across multiple WMCA priorities, this role will support TfWM to develop and deliver travel support projects to benefit the residents of the West Midlands, with the objective of supporting more people into work and skills. Target audiences include job seekers, young people not in education, employment or training (NEETS) and apprentices as well as other target groups based on current needs.
You will be delivering and promoting travel support, developing future programmes of work and helping to secure funding. You will be enabling more people to access work and skills by collaborating with stakeholders and partners across the region to ensure maximum take up of the support.
You will be a proactive individual with experience in a related sector involving stakeholder management, who can work under pressure and to tight deadlines. You should possess good knowledge of Microsoft Office and be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
