Senior Systems Engineer - Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, £30-36k plus package
The main purpose of the Systems Engineer role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organisational functions.
You will be involved in designing and deploying new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software and operating systems. You will also perform cost benefit and return on investment analysis to aid management in making and implementing decisions and conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
The ideal candidate will have substantial and proven experience in overseeing the design, development and implementation of software system, applications and related products as well as in systems planning, security principles and general software management best practices. You will have working technical knowledge of current software protocols and internet standards as well as extensive experience with core software applications including Microsoft Server 2008/2012 and Microsoft Office 2007/2014.
You will be a strong communicator both written and face to face and have the confidence to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. You will also have excellent project management skills along with the ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
Experience
5 years equivalent in-post work experience.
Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
Skills
Working technical knowledge of current software protocols, and Internet standards
Extensive experience with core software applications, including Microsoft Server 2008/2012 and MS-Office 2007
Virtualisation Knowledge ESX/Hyper V would be preferred
Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including MS-XP Professional and Windows 7 Professional.
General knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
SQL knowledge would be advantageous
