IT User Platform Analyst (Server Analyst)

Your role

This is your chance to play a key part in our User Platform team. Here, you will design, deliver and provide third line support for some of the University’s most important technology services. You’ll be instrumental in the adoption of cloud-based services and the introduction of a range of exciting new digital features. Day-to-day, you’ll be planning and delivering these new services, including the technical integration of SaaS and IaaS products. You’ll also tackle the configuration and operation of on-site resources, to ensure that our business needs are met at all times.  

About you

This is a role for a professional with experience of large and complex environments. You’ll need expertise covering at least some of the following:

Essential extensive knowledge:

  • Microsoft Windows Server including security hardening
  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • DHCP & DNS
  • WSUS
  • Hardware support
  • ITIL working knowledge or foundation qualification.

Desirable:

  • VMware ESX
  • Nutanix hyperconvergence
  • Red Hat Linux
  • Sophos encryption
  • McAfee ePO
  • Google G Suite
  • Solarwinds Orion monitoring tool
  • Call management suite software such as TOPdesk
  • Software asset management tools such as Snow
  • Shibboleth SSO
  • SAN’s
  • Centrally managed Certificate Authority Services
  • Central Log Server solutions
  • Secure FTP solutions
  • Password Vaulting
  • Mac and Mobile Device Management
  • Cloud technologies such as Azure/Amazon Web Services.

The role is part of the University’s Career Pathway scheme, which encourages career progression through technical knowledge and experience. A Career Pathway is set over three years and includes training. By working successfully in your role, you’ll work your way up the grading structure. There are pay progression opportunities within the grade, subject to grade placement.
