As a Tutor in Supported Learning, you will teach and assess on a range College programmes and provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties. Taking part in curriculum planning and product development in order to deliver the College’s strategic objectives, you will seek work placements and monitor work experience activities. You will also carry out assessment, evaluation and other administration duties relating to the post.

With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully as part of a team, you will have experience of working with and an understanding of the needs of LLDD and be able to manage students offering challenging behaviour. With a demonstrated ability to teach and communicate at a level appropriate to the students and in a way that recognises their different learning abilities, you will have knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post 16 sector, including RARPA and have experience of providing effective student support.

A Degree or relevant professional qualification is highly desirable but not essential. We’d also like you to hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to participate in staff development in order to achieve one.

The post holder will be based at Carshalton College.
