Purchasing / Stores Manager Grimsby £25k - £28k Full Time, Permanent


Your new role
To be responsible for overall management on the stores function, responsible for managing the stores and team. You will provide leadership and develop the stores function to achieve effective and cost efficient stock control management.

Key Duties:

  • To be responsible for the ordering processes for all items, including consumables, stationery, service contracts and capital items.
  • Ensure that processes are in place within the department to adhere to finance policies and sign-off limits.
  • Maintain an efficient and effective computerised stock control system, ensuring that stock levels are maintained within maximum/minimum levels and reordered on a timely basis.
  • Be responsible for the correct processing of deliveries, including checking against the original order and updating the system.
  • Approve invoices in line with limits specified by the finance policies and local processes.
  • Manage and co-ordinate departmental stock checks and update the stock system with results.
  • Analyse differences between actual and system and continually improve processes to reduce the differences to a minimum.
  • Oversee management of stock levels in all departments and ensure that processes are in place to place timely replacement orders.
  • Build relationships with suppliers, including regular review of service and prices and to deal promptly with any issues or concerns relating to goods, deliveries, quality or discrepancies.
  • Work with internal departments to ensure that best value for money is achieved on all purchases and assist with obtaining quotes and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Initiate, plan and carry out improvements to the processes involved in the department.

  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Previous Management Experience
  • Knowledge of Stores Systems
  • Experience of negotiating with suppliers
  • Ability to work closely within a team
  • Good communications skills
