The Company's readers consume their content in print and online. They have an expanding portfolio of websites which they build and maintain on behalf of their clients and for their own brands. Their market leading brands include Real Business - the most-read website for UK SMEs, Business Advice - the go-to information hub for ambitious small businesses and Real Deals, the voice of European Private Equity.

They employ about 50 talented permanent staff and they based next to the River Thames in Imperial Wharf which is a 5-minute train journey from Clapham Junction Overground.

The Role:

Due to the increased requirement to present their content online, an opportunity has arisen for a skilled Front-End web developer to join them as a key member of their friendly digital team. You'll work alongside the digital project manager, ad ops executive and digital designer to help the team map out diverse technical solutions to challenges identified, including issues with user experience and accessibility. You will furthermore use your Wordpress, HTML, PHP and JavaScript experience to deliver high quality, creative, engaging, responsive and of course secure websites.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure positive web and mobile user experience by transforming creative design concepts into clean code
• Develop engaging libraries using our digital designers Atomic Design process, to create reusable code components for future projects
• Working across the full product lifecycle, from idea creation through to launch and beyond
• Staying on top of the latest web trends and technologies
• Identifying and implementing improvements to the development and delivery processes
• Managing Git version control
• Site deployment
• Developing websites in conjunction with ad servers
• Ensuring our websites Ad suites are regulated and updated correctly and keeping all stakeholders in the loop about changes within the advertising world which our web products could benefit from.
• Documenting and planning technical solutions to meet internal team and client business requirements

• A self-starter with great organisational skills and ability to manage own time and projects
• Showing great attention to detail,
• A multi-tasker who is good at prioritising workload and able to work with the project manager to refine timelines for a project's completion

• A passion to continuously develop skills and learn new technologies

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Front End development
• Degree in relevant technical computing (or equivalent)
• Experience in the latest technologies used to build secure web products (HTML, (S)CSS, PHP, WordPress, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and familiarity with modern tools like Gulp, Grunt, Webpack.)
• Excellent knowledge of the direction our industry is going in, and trends within Web development
• Ability to build complex user interfaces and data visualizations
• Creating strong code for cross-browser and accessibility support
• Experience developing themes and plugins for CMS platforms (WordPress)
• HTML emails and email template experience
• Ability to contribute to scope building and writing documentation of any development works
• Experience troubleshooting technical problems within a digital team
• MySQL database familiarity (desirable)
• Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, SOAP, XML and more (desirable)
• UX development experience for data intensive and magazine-oriented interfaces (desirable)
• SEO experience (desirable)
• An interest in data visualisation (desirable)
• Some experience using Zeplin / Invision to process designs into development (desirable)
