The company is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005. Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities are being built in the Stanlow area. The Company specialises in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.

They are currently looking to recruit for a Finance Assistant tTo support the completion of robust analysis reporting on the key commercial and operational drivers of the business and to prepare relevant and insightful management information.

You will also need to assist with reporting on the financial impact of existing business practices and processes, and to undertake analysis on the financial impact of new and potential new developments in the business and other ad hoc finance support as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Areas of focus to include support on the creation and distribution of KPI reports and analysis and other associated tasks including the below:

  • Preparation of the monthly management "level 2" reporting pack.
  • Issuing the daily production summary report.
  • Preparation of monthly detailed production report.
  • Performing financial analysis on key cost streams (for examply Haulage, Utilities, Chemicals, Repairs & Maintenance, Production)
  • Support on the control of budgeting models and key inputs as part of the annual budget and quarterly reforecast process.
  • Analysis of customer margin (current and potential new customers)
  • Analysing the current renewable transport fuel certificates prices and performing a comparison of the impact of potential new sales contracts.
  • Analysis of raw material and feedstock/input costs (current and new opportunities)
  • Monthly inventory counts, providing detailed analysis of variances
  • Preparation of monthly flash profit forecasts
  • General commercial finance support to the Operations and Commercial departments
  • Other ad hoc support to the finance team

The candidate:

Qualifications

  • Part or fully AAT qualified or studying towards a relevant finance qualification (ACCA, CIMA etc); or
  • A degree (or equivalent further education qualification) in accountancy, business management or equivalent with relevant work experience.

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Strong excel and analytical skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred. Ideally previous experience gained in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Detail and process orientated

Other Information:

  • Some travel to other sites will be required on an occasional basis
