TEACHER OF MATHS: TMS

Full time or Part Time (0.6+), permanent with effect from 1st September 2018

The School

Gordano School is part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (multi-academy trust).  We have a reputation for success that is based on excellent teaching and high standards. We are proud to be a comprehensive school and value the success and achievement of every one of our pupils. We are a proud member of the North Somerset Teaching Alliance and were designated as a National Teaching School in September 2013.

In April 2012 Gordano was judged to be Outstanding in all categories in an Ofsted inspection. Exam results are consistently very strong, with the Key Stage 4 program significantly above average again in 2017, and positive value added results at Key Stage 5. Results in Maths are currently some of the strongest in the school and it is consistently the most popular subject at A Level.

The Role

With effect from 1st September 2018, we are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging teacher of Maths to join a high achieving Faculty on a full time and permanent contract. This would equally suit an NQT or a more experienced colleague.

The ability to teach a second subject would be an advantage. We are a forward thinking Faculty that aims to challenge and engage students from Year 7 through to Year 13. We hope to appoint someone who is ambitious and as committed to creative and compelling teaching as we are.

The successful candidate will be:

  • a strong classroom teacher
  • willing to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours of Gordano School
  • able to enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge students to raise standards and achievement at all levels
  • willing to commit to the community ethos of the school through extra-curricular contribution

Gordano School offers an excellent benefits package including contributory pension scheme, a comprehensive employee assistance programme and benefits (offering discounts on shopping), child care vouchers, cycle to work scheme and on-site parking. As a Teaching School we also offer support and professional development to staff at all levels, including a full induction programme and support towards achieving NQT assessments for newly qualified staff.
