Job Title: Leisure Centre Manager

Leisure Centre hours of operation are Monday to Friday 6 - 10, Saturday 8 - 6, Sun 9 - 8.

The post holder will work 37 hours per week. It is expected that the post holder will work flexibly to provide some cover out of normal office hours.

The Role:

The College is seeking a Leisure Centre Manager to oversee all aspects of the running of the Leisure Centre and associated programmes, providing reports on occupancy and participation. The post is responsible for managing and coordinating swimming activities, Holiday Club and other Children's activities, and letting of the College sports facilities

You will have strong leadership skills, the ability to effectively plan and organise the Leisure Centre activities and have experience in a similar role.

Key Requirements:

  • Run the College Leisure Centre including the management and development of staff, facilities and budgets.
  • Plan and implement staff rotas in accordance with budgets to ensure adequate staffing for the efficient running of the Leisure Centre and associated programmes.
  • Manage the booking, occupancy and invoicing of facilities.
  • Oversee the planning, administration and implementation of all swimming related programmes.
  • Oversee the supervision, administration and promotion of the College Holiday Sports Club and children's activities. Recruit staff to implement the programme. Ensure the safety and suitability of equipment.
  • Ensure that there is maximum awareness of Leisure opportunities available to the local community including disadvantaged groups
  • Liaise with the College's PE Department to co-ordinate the College's swimming and rowing team trials.
  • Promote and co-ordinate courses leading to ASA and National Pool Lifeguard qualifications, where funding permits.
  • Manage staff training programme for lifeguards ensuring that this complies with the requirements of the National Pool Lifeguard qualification.
  • Facilitate departmental meetings on a regular basis, providing minutes for Senior Management Team.
  • Provide regular reports regarding occupancy and participation relating to Swimming Lessons, Sports Club and Lettings.
  • Carry out first-aid as and when necessary to the standard to which the post-holder is qualified.
  • Ensure that plant room operations are carried out effectively and that air and water temperatures and water quality are maintained within recommended guidelines.
  • To undertake any other duties consistent with the job title as may reasonably be required from time to time by College Management.

The Candidate:

  • Proven experience managing a Leisure Centre or similar environment
  • Experience of successfully managing a team
  • Demonstrable experience delivering high quality, customer focused, efficient services in a demanding environment
  • Pool Plant experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and simplify complex issues and concepts
  • Practical knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety legislation and guidelines
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work strategically and seek and implement creative solutions
  • Good attention to detail while retaining the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and organise own workload and manage conflicting deadlines
