An exciting opportunity has arisen with West Suffolk Councils to become a Senior Arboriculture Officer! You will join our Parks and Open Spaces Team based in in Bury St Edmunds on a Full Time, Permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £24,174 - £29,323 per annum depending on qualifications/experience (potentially rising to £29,323 through annual Performance Review awards).

The Senior Arboriculture Officer role:

As our Senior Arboriculture Officer you will be responsible for the provision of an effective arboricultural service across West Suffolk including the council’s parks and open spaces and planning service areas. 

Responsible for supervising the work of two arboricultural officers your duties will include the provision of support to the Councils Planning Service relating to planning and development, tree preservation orders and conservation areas, surveying and inspections, dealing with public enquires through a computerised record system, arranging work via the Councils tree team and private contractors, drawing up service agreements and contract specifications for arboricultural work and designing planting schemes.

You will also be expected to be available for emergency call out.

Our ideal Senior Arboriculture Officer:

To be successful you will need a minimum qualification of Technician Certificate in Arboriculture level 4 or equivalent and be thoroughly familiar with current arboricultural best practice. You will need good diagnostic and identification skills for a wide variety of tree and shrub species and be computer literate. The ability to work on your own initiative is essential.
