Description
The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) are looking for a Stores Operative to join their busy shipping team. The role involves supporting a wide range of functions within the supply chain logistics team, including receiving items at goods-in, loading and unloading transport, and preparing goods for freight.
You will need to be physically capable of carrying out the manual work with excellent attention to details for the clerical side of the role. We are looking for someone with good time management and experience of working successfully within a small team.
Purpose
Working under the supervision of the Stores Manager the role holder will be involved in a range of support functions in the Supply Chain Logistics team.
The role includes some manual tasks, including lifting. There may be a requirement to work outside of core hours during busy periods.
Qualification
GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
Duties
- Receiving, checking, notification and distribution of stores received in goods-in.
- Loading and unloading transports.
- Preparation of goods for freight.
- Handling, consolidation, documentation, packing and marking of cargo.
- Clerical duties to include accurately maintaining official logs.
- Support to other areas when required.
- To undertake other duties as required by the Director of BAS.
