Organisation Background:


RSPCA Burton on Trent and District Branch is an independently funded branch. We promote the work of the National Society of the RSPCA, within our branch area.
Our key aim is to find suitable permanent new homes for as many animals as possible, and to provide proper care for those who have been neglected, mistreated or abandoned. With expanding requirements and costs we are looking to develop all aspect of our organisation.

Purpose of the Public Engagement Manager Role:

The role is newly created to separate some responsibilities from our existing Animal Home Manager allowing us to enhance focus, accommodate additional priorities and refine the personnel structure.

The focus of the role will be centred around developing the public perception and presence of the home (RSPCA Burton & District Branch), supporting the activities of the animal home and its care staff by relieving aspects of admin and exploring fundraising opportunities.

This role will make a huge difference in the development of our charity, our capacity to care for and rehome animals. 

Key Responsibilities:

+ Management and development of your staff and resources in support of the below responsibilities and good staff communication and relations
+ Development and maintenance of perceptions, experiences and relationships of/with our branch through improvement and expansion of the many ways we engage with people
+ Initial and supportive engagement with public and volunteers as appropriate to reduce time and administration requirement of ‘Animal Care Staff’
+ PR and Media, coordinate updates and promotions of us, our activities and products through various forms of media and events
+ Strategy and implementation of marketing and fundraising
+ Maintaining compliance with policies including Data Protection and HR
+ Budgeting and optimisation of your resources

You will also be expected to share some responsibilities with the Animal Home Manager
E.G. ensuring adequate provision of site security and site refurbishment projects. Any other reasonable duties.

Make the most of resources available including those offered by the national RSPCA. Working alongside the Animal Home Manager and with Shop Managers to promote communication and positive cohesion within our organisation.

Reporting to your line manager and the branch’s Board of Trustees.
