Project Officer (Tamar Valley)
Location: Tamar Valley Centre, Gunnislake
The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is seeking a Project Officer to join our small but dynamic team. The position is for 2 years to March 2020. The post holder will be required to help deliver the priorities set out in the current statutory Management Plan 2014-19 and input into the development of the next plan which is currently underway. You will develop future landscape projects; experience of woodland and hedge management, as well as knowledge of the built and cultural heritage and working closely with landowners and managers would be desirable. You will be expected to also work closely with public, private and voluntary sector partners and encourage local community support and involvement. This post will be expected to help support the broad range of activities that the AONB unit delivers, such as supporting volunteers, promoting outdoor recreation and working closely with our associated charities. You must like working as part of a team, have good communications skills and an environmental and/or heritage background. You will need to be resourceful and be willing to work independently. You will require your own transport and occasionally be willing to work evenings and weekends.
You will have an environmental or heritage related degree and experience of carrying out project work in these fields with experience and knowledge of working with farmers, land managers and communities.
