Primary areas of responsibilities to include:
Business area support
  • Lending businesses in EMEA including Corporate Bank, Leveraged Finance, EMG business and GMSG
  • Fund Linked Products business for the UK
  • International Wealth Management (PB) in the UK and Guernsey
  • International Wealth Management (AM) in the UK
  • Support to other areas of the Global Markets and SRU Divisions/businesses on an ad hoc basis
  • Provision of tax support to various corporate projects and M&A transactions
Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the assessment, approval and implementation phases of New Business initiatives for business areas covered;
  • Handle the implementation and impact of projects
  • Manage control and risk assessment in accordance with departmental policies
  • Develop technical and product knowledge
  • Provide technical and reputational input to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain industry knowledge and represent CS on industry committees (e.g. BBA Tax Panel)
General:
  • Providing technical advice to Financial Accounting and the business in connection with the UK Bank Levy
  • Working with the GTAF team to prepare the Controlled Foreign Company return within the corporate tax return, as well as liaising with HMRC with any queries
  • Providing technical support in relation to the Diverted Profits Tax including preparing and updating relevant documentation
France, Monaco and Guernsey Country coverage:
  • Develop contacts and understanding of all business conducted in those locations
  • Liaise with FO support and other tax specialists for business conducted in/with the locations covered
  • Develop technical and environmental knowledge of taxation matters
  • Assisting transfer pricing team in preparing transfer pricing documentation as required and in implementing global transfer pricing strategies
  • Managing of local tax audits, including review of submissions prepared by Group Finance and external advisors in relation thereto
  • Maintaining the relationship with the local tax authorities, including enquiries into the corporate tax affairs of those entities, including coordination with Group Finance and external advisors, and driving resolution of tax issues
  • Non Income Tax Oversight
  • Obtaining and providing mentorship on legal and regulatory requirements relating to Non-income Tax (which excludes all compensation-related/payroll taxes) applicable to CS, as requested by the department primarily responsible for managing the tax
  • Providing assistance to the managing department in establishing adequate processes, for conducting appropriate quality reviews of the overall process with regards to material non-income taxes, as requested by the department primarily responsible for managing the tax
  • Explaining technical positions, negotiating disputed positions, and managing the tax authority relationship in tax authority examinations of such taxes
  • Liaising with tax accounting specialists regarding tax accounting
Governance and controls:
  • Reporting of and managing of EMEA Tax governance and control matters, including:
  • Escalation of tax matters to EMEA Head of Tax
  • Reporting to and attendance at EMEA Tax Controls meeting
  • Operational Risk reporting
  • Sarbanes Oxley Controls and processes
  • Correctly classifying and appropriately reporting any outsourcing arrangements and specific country legislative matters e.g. UK's Senior Accounting Officer regime

You Offer
  • You have tax related qualifications with 8+ years post qualification experience
  • A demonstrable experience in a similar role - either in an in-house tax department or a consultancy role
  • Broad skills and ability to cover a number of disciplines and a variety of tasks. A mixture of UK and EMEA tax experience and / or corporate and non-corporate tax experience would be an advantage
  • Financial services tax experience is an advantage
  • You can build effective working relationships, who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and can leverage the organization
  • You are a self-motivated teammate who is able to work autonomously and manage delivery
