Role Overview:
Based in the Wolvey office (Leicestershire), but with a requirement to attend site visits and Client meetings throughout the UK, the Design Co-ordinator's Primary role is supporting the Design Manager to manage the design process on various Critical National Infrastructure Security projects ensuring fully compliant integrated designs are produced in accordance with Client's requirements, industry specifications and standards.

You will assist managing the process of designing the solution(s) for the project in order to meet or exceed customers' requirements. The successful candidate will assist to identify contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities for value engineering, in order to minimise risk and maximise gross profit on contracts. You will support the fulfilment of the pipeline of contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while maximising gross profit and customers' satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommend appointment of consultants
  • Control the design process, from planning application through to project completion
  • The coordination of external design consultants, in accordance with GT's BMS procedures
  • Contributing to the value engineering and build-ability of the project in developing innovative design solutions which will add value to projects and provide competitive advantage.
  • Ensuring designs are produced in a timely manner, to meet programme requirements.
  • Providing general technical support and advice to site and project teams.
  • Compliance with GTIS's and Client's procedures for the secure distribution and storage of confidential design documentation.
  • Ensuring designs produced are compliant with industry specifications and standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining commercial and financial control systems with appointed design consultants to ensure they work within budget.
  • Ensure consultants prepare detailed design in accordance with Employers Requirement and Contractors Proposals.
  • Manage and review the design development process ensuring value engineering and buildability are considered.
  • To ensure timely registration with warranty providers i.e. Building Regulation Application (where required).
  • Support the preparation, approval and distribution of the Health and Safety File/Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
  • To ensure timely completion and issue of technical assessments, warranties, certificates and the like.
  • Set up information/drawing registers and ensure information control is in accordance with all relevant Company BMS Procedures and that a full archive of design information and correspondence is retained.
  • Review design development to allow construction of works to follow safety working practices and be in accordance with current legislation, Group Policy and Procedures.

Experience and Qualifications:
?? A Building / Civil Engineering construction related background.
?? Previous experience in the use and understanding of construction drawings.
?? Previous experience on the NEC3 suite of contracts preferred (but not essential).
?? Previous experience on Critical National Infrastructure Security projects preferred (but not essential).
  • Security clearance to SC level preferred and you must be eligible to gain BPSS or SC level Security Clearance and thus this role is only open to British Nationals.
