Specialist, Commercial Strategy & Analytics

The Specialist, Commercial Strategy & Analytics will be responsible leading on initiatives to deliver Own Brands P&L targets with a focus on existing customers. These strategies are critical to Own Brands & NewDay Business Performance and the roleholder will be expected to be a subject matter expert on pricing, limit management, balance build strategies and how they have to be developed in light of changing regulatory conditions.

The postholder will be expected to be one of the key sources of underlying portfolio health through effective monitoring and insight and work particularly closely with the Finance, Marketing & Credit Risk teams to ensure Own Brands achieves its commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • having end to end management of Balance Growth initiatives (eg Promotional Activity (BT/MT/Spend), Contactless, CLI & Loans Interactions) from strategy development to data targeting and execution, working with the Product & Customer Strategy, Loans, Marketing & Credit Risk teams;
  • being the owner of regular portfolio insight, analysis and reporting to continually identify pockets & segments of untapped value in the portfolio and act on these opportunities;
  • leading on commercial marketing initiatives within Own Brands including EMOB, Activation/Dormancy and utilising effective Segmentation to create customer & P&L outcome improving scenarios;
  • being a subject matter expert on a broad range of strategies that impact new & existing account profitability (eg sensitivity to pricing, channel and product features); and
  • conducting ad-hoc investigative analysis to provide insight/recommendations & analytical support for stakeholders across the business including Commercial, Marketing, Credit Risk & Finance.  This could include particularly complex tasks such as impacts of Persistent Debt/CCMS impacts, price elasticity and credit risk sensitivities.

Criteria for selection

The candidate must possess the following attributes:

  • SME in utilising data manipulation tools (SAS/SQL/other) to perform complex analysis within the financial sector;
  • have experience in creating multifaceted strategies that cover changes to P&L, Product & customer at the same time;
  • have strong quantitative analytical skills and proven experience of valuation and behaviour modelling within financial services
  • experience of end to end management of Balance Growth initiatives (eg Promotional Activity (BT/MT/Spend), Contactless, CLI & Loans Interactions) from strategy development to data targeting and execution
  • have experience working on/with near prime consumer lending products in the UK Market
  • are aware of and have modelled the impact of future regulatory changes in particular the impacts of CCMS
  • have the ability to present findings & analysis in a structured and well thought-through way, particularly when addressing a non-expert audience.

Salary: £58,000 to £61,000 per annum
