Are you a self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision and to deadlines who enjoys working in a friendly atmosphere?

We have a position available for a fully skilled Evening Leading Hand / Skilled Vehicle and Plant Fitter to join our team at our workshop facility based in Waterbeach.

You will be required to carry out servicing and repairs (mechanical, electrical and hydraulic) to a wide range of fleet and private vehicles.  This includes, but is not limited to: heavy goods vehicles (HGV) including refuse trucks and sweepers, light goods vehicles (LCV), privately owned passenger cars, plant and ground care equipment. You will also be expected to prepare and present a wide range of internal and external contracted fleet for annual MOT tests, maintaining all stock parts, recording information on job cards using the fleet management system.

In this exciting and varied role, you will also support and deputise, as required, for the Workshop Team Leader in delivering a safe and legal working environment and to help plan both daily and weekly workloads (e.g. staffing, facilities, tools and equipment, job card processing, parts) in order to maintain customer satisfaction.

As a minimum requirement, you will have served a full recognised apprenticeship and will hold a City and Guilds level 2 certificate in motor vehicle repair, or equivalent.  Experience of the servicing and repair of HGV and LCV vehicles is essential, as is the ability to diagnose complex vehicle faults. Previous experience of the maintenance and repair of refuse collection vehicles and associated equipment would be advantageous but not essential. A category C HGV driving licence would also be an advantage. The successful applicant will receive an enhancement for any hours worked at the supervisory level.
