The function of the estates department , is to provide a professional and cost effective estates management service to enable the University's function and activities to proceed in a safe and efficient manner and to create a progressive environment which enhances sustainable learning activity for all students and staff.
The department has the responsibility for managing the estates strategy, property maintenance, property management, facilities management and health, safety and environmental management.
About the role
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, and working alongside the electrical and mechanical technicians you will provide support to the University’s Estate. You will work with others to maintain the University’s building assets and respond to planned and reactive maintenance work requests. This will include tasks that require skilled small scale building and fabric repairs or modifications. The postholder will also be responsible for the supervision of external contractors undertaking building fabric related repairs and maintenance. There is no direct line management responsibility, but the team of multi skilled tradespersons will be looking to you for day to day support and mentoring.
About you (requirements)
It is essential that you have qualifications in a building fabric or related maintenance trade or discipline, preferably gained through a recognized trade apprenticeship; Preference will be given to candidates from commercial/school/University background, with significant recent experience in separate aspects of building maintenance.
