We are currently looking to recruit additional committed staff to join our team of youth support and escort staff based in County Durham

Over the past 20 years Wrixon Care has steadily grown from a small family-run business, providing secure, and non-secure, escorts and support for vulnerable children and young people in the youth care systems to what we are today.

Our services are offered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and include (but are not limited to):

Secure and non-secure transport of children and young people within the care system

Support of children and young people with a range of, often challenging, support needs

Support shifts within secure children's units

Complex needs support

Our staff are required to work in a variety of different, often very challenging situations and environments, helping to support people with their own individual requirements. The behaviour of those in our care can be very challenging and you would need to be confident in dealing with young people ensuring their safety and security - as well as that of our staff - at all times.

Flexibility is key: we are a 24 hour business with our services available 365 days a year, so you would need to be flexible in your availability for work and committed to seeing a task through. We offer a range of working arrangements to suit individual work-life balance requirements. The majority of our staff work on a zero hours contract basis, which allows you to tell us when you are available to work updating our live 'dynamic web based' system as your availability status changes. We also offer minimum hours' guaranteed contract options based on 20 or 35 hours per week (averaged over a 3-month period).

Comprehensive training is provided. Although you don't need to have any particular educational or professional qualifications we are looking for people who can demonstrate they have the ability, and life skills and tools, to ensure we achieve positive outcomes for those we support. You will need a full driving licence. Our 'base' for this role is County Durham.

Our pre-employment checks require that you have a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure and membership of the DBS update service (we can help you to apply for this). Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us - consideration is given to the nature, circumstances and background of any offence. We will also require evidence of entitlement to work in the United Kingdom.

We offer a competitive set of terms and conditions of employment which includes:

  • Hourly rate from GBP9.50 - GBP15.00
  • Access to company workplace pension scheme
    . Paid holidays
. Training pay (the training for this position will be 4 th - 8 th June 2018)
