Job Description
RLB are a multi sector focused business actively operating and investing in commercial, residential, education, sports, nuclear, hotels, education and retail clients and projects. Our dedicated Project Management Team is responsible for seeing a project through from the initial planning stages to completion and typically represent the client. Their main task is to break down projects into stages, taking responsibility for monitoring and managing the programme, cost, quality, design, construction and risks of each stage of the project.
We are currently recruiting a Project Manager to join a client focused team within our London office. The role will be split between the following:
- acting as the London based Project Manager on a large, fast track and technically challenging project and acting as the ‘interface’ between London and the overseas client; and
- Project Management of London residential projects which requires extensive liaison with the overseas client and their representative in London.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- managing multiple projects on ‘LIVE’ operational sites;
- managing multi-disciplinary project teams;
- complying with established procurement/commercial/contractual strategies;
- taking personal responsibility for complying with environmental, health, safety, security and quality standards;
- managing and preparing key stage reports from feasibility through to completion and post-handover;
- preparing various programmes;
- preparing progress reports and presenting at monthly client meetings;
- running a competitive tender process including managing queries from tendering contractors; and
- assisting with the preparation of contract documents.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
The candidate must have/be:
- construction project management degree or a similar construction related qualification;
- MEng or similar honours in Engineering based degree ;
- extensive technical delivery experience in a similar role gained within a consultancy or end use client within the UK and Middle East;
- experience of leadership of large scale residential new build and refurbishment projects;
- ability to identify and develop potential opportunities to secure more business for RLB;
- well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute;
- excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal;
- excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills;
- a track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering to deadlines;
- a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable and flexible;
- a comprehensive and demonstrable understanding and knowledge of lean construction methods;
- a working knowledge of various forms of building contracts;
- extensive experience in Contract Administration;
- fluency in English in both written and verbal communication; and
- due to the location of the client and their project team, the candidate should have an understanding of Spanish and German.
