Job Description: Head of Fundraising Type of contract: Permanent Location: Home based with 2 days per month at the ECHO Office, Canterbury House, 1 Royal Street, London SE1 7LL or office based Hours: 21-24 hours per week - we are open to discussion and flexible regarding specified days/times Salary: Competitive. Benefits include 25 days annual leave (pro-rata), The People's Pension and flexible working. Job purpose: The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for the full fundraising programme at ECHO. Reporting to: Chief Executive Key Stakeholders: Fundraisers, ECHO members and their families, volunteers, trustees, Evelina London Children's Hospital staff, external partners, service providers and the ECHO staff team. Interviews: 3rd and 4th April 2018 This role is subject to a DBS check, a six month probation and key performance measures will apply About the charity ECHO: ECHO (Evelina Children's Heart Organisation) supports children and young people with heart conditions and their families, who've been treated by Evelina London Children's Hospital networks. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect affecting almost 1 in every 100 babies born in the UK. ECHO provides support from the moment of diagnosis, throughout any treatment and care pathway or bereavement. ECHO helps members from across the UK and does so within Evelina London Children's Hospital, local hospitals and the community. Families are supported at every stage of their heart child's journey through childhood, teenage years and during the transition to adult services. The charity offers a number of practical services aimed at supporting these families, often when there is little other help available. This is an exciting time to join ECHO, we're celebrating our 35th birthday in 2018 and will be seeking to increase the number of families we support, grow our supporter base, and develop new ways of raising income. About the role: We're looking for an ambitious and hardworking Head of Fundraising to develop our fundraising strategy and drive our income generation. ECHO is seeking an experienced fundraiser to work as part of a small team at its London headquarters and maximise income from new and existing opportunities. We think this is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated senior fundraiser, It is essential that you have a strong background in fundraising and are excited by the challenge of improving our income and developing our database to fit the needs of our charity. ECHO is committed to good stewardship and to growing external support, we plan to significantly increase the trust, company and foundation fundraising income this year. You will play the lead role in helping to boost the charity's income during this exciting period. The post will focus primarily on raising funds and will report to the CEO, but will have a high degree of autonomy to shape and lead the charity's fundraising programme. This will involve you writing and introducing a robust fundraising 3-5 year strategy and developing our appeals and applications, whilst also developing a core volunteer team to support our fundraising plans. You will see our latest accounts show a deficit, it was essential that the funds were utilised in order to stabilise and modernise ECHO, and to provide the platform for future growth. To this end, we have overhauled the ECHO brand and greatly improved our website and information availability which, in turn, will enable us to build our income generating capabilities. 2018 is already reaping the benefit of this investment with funding agreed from BBC CIN, Postcode Lottery and some 12 month corporate partnerships with well-known brands. In addition, our first overseas challenge is proving very popular and direct debits have increased from ECHO members. We're seeking someone who enjoys the art of crafting compelling funding applications, a focused team player who will work strategically, develop relationships and enjoy the responsibility of leading the charity's fundraising work. You will identify and engage a pipeline of funders through new means, develop a fundraising database and create a reporting system to update and thank supporters. To work with and fit in to our small team of 4 staff, you will need to be passionate, hardworking and happy to support the team with other areas of work. Putting children with heart conditions and their families at the centre of everything we do is key to helping us best support them. You will have a real commitment to making a difference for children with heart conditions, and their families.
