Salary: £27,221 per annum

Permanent – 37 hours per week is advertising for a Health, Safety & Environmental Consultant on behalf of our client a leading social housing provider based in Blackburn

This is an excellent opportunity for ambitious candidates looking to further their career within Health & Safety and Environmental consultancy, to join a successful consultancy team within the Business Services Division of Newground CIC.

Newground is based in Blackburn, Lancashire, and is an award-winning social enterprise and a member of the Group.

The consultancy team, which is made up of experienced health, safety, environment and quality professionals, specialise in providing management systems and legal compliance consultancy support and training to businesses across all sectors in the UK and Republic of Ireland. 

The successful candidate will ideally have some consultancy experience, with health and safety as their lead discipline, and will be expected to deliver a limited range consultancy services independently. You will be supported in the role through ‘on the job’ shadowing and internal and external training courses to ensure development of technical and operational competence and to facilitate career progression. This role will enable progression through a number of levels of seniority based on experience, ability to deliver a broader range of consultancy services and further development of technical specialisms.

The role will suit those with a Degree in a relevant health, safety and/or environment-related discipline and who have some work experience in health & safety or environmental consultancy or related field.

Self-motivated, organised, flexible and committed to your continual professional development, you will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of your main technical subject area;
  • Sound knowledge of relevant management systems standards;
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and/or environmental UK legislation;
  • Desire and commitment to develop competencies in other relevant disciplines;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written reports;
  • A ‘can do attitude’;
  • A full driving licence with access to a car, as travel across the UK is an essential part of the role.
