Interested in SQL and C#? So are they! For this position they require someone who is comfortable querying databases using SQL. If you also have experience of object oriented programming languages or based content management systems this will be a great advantage, however there is scope for on the job training.
Candidates with prior SQL experience will be given extra consideration, but all candidates with a strong grasp of programming principles, particularly experience with other similar languages (VB, Java etc.), will be viewed favourably.
At times the supported applications may require upgrades and further development, you will be supporting the senior developers in carrying out these changes, primarily using an agile software development approach.
They are looking for someone who is self-disciplined and self-motivated. You will need to have a can-do attitude and be prepared to take on new challenges. For the right person there is the opportunity to grow within the role.
The council believes that it is critical to encourage personal development to have a successful team. As such, they are keen to allow their staff personal development time to undertake relevant training courses or otherwise improve their skill set.
This post is covered by the Government's Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
