A high profile position has arisen for an experienced Estates Category Manager to join the team.
The role Is the primary Procurement Team contact point for Estates, supporting the Estates Senior Management team in general, and specifically the Directors/Managers responsible for Operations & Utilities, Central & Residential Services and Capital Projects. The role purpose is to establish effective and best practice procurement strategies, processes and controls in respect of Facilities services, works capital projects and premises management within the estates portfolio.
The Role Goal for this typical GBP40m-GBP50m annual spend, is to provide both strategic and operational support to help secure timely supplies, help mitigate identified risks, optimise value for money, support the efficient and cost effective purchase of capital works, goods and services and align to the Estates and Procurement Strategies.
The role will work closely with any internal QS / Cost Management roles who will normally have prime lead responsibility for ensuring the works specification and procurement route is fit for purpose; is professionally tendered or negotiated using leading cost analysis / cost determination techniques, and that the resulting contracts are managed to drive agreed performance.
This role will provide procurement functional leadership across Estates, however the expenditure and scope is too wide and complex to provide day to day operational buying / tendering support in all areas. Consequently the role holder will be flexible and work closely with the Internal QS / Cost Manager and Capital Project Managers; other Estates Managers, and, other Procurement Team colleagues to define and agree specific role responsibilities.
It is essential that you are professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification, plus broad demonstrable management experience in similar or related roles.
