We are seeking a senior-level associate to work across both the Real Estate Finance and Leverage Finance team in our Financial Industry Group in Reed Smith's London office.
We are looking for a candidate who can work across both teams to help build the practice and broaden and deepen our client relationships.
The role sits within the Financial Industry Group which consists of more than 210 lawyers and is one of the largest practices dedicated to clients in the financial sector - advising domestic and global banks, asset managers, insurance companies, investment banks, and investment management companies and advisers.
Real Estate Finance We act for an impressive list of UK, European and US lenders and, due to the strength of our Real Estate team, count many of the world's biggest real estate investors as our clients. One of the objectives of the team is to further develop our lender-side practice, so any contacts and experience of acting for real estate lenders would be an advantage. Our real estate finance team acts on all types of real estate financing and deal structures including origination, securitisation, servicing, syndication, workout and enforcement of loans secured by real estate assets throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and beyond.
Made up of lawyers with significant real estate finance experience, and fully supported by real estate, financial services and capital markets capabilities, the Real Estate Finance team handles all types of secured, conventional and participating loans (including bridge and mezzanine loans), sale and leaseback structures, securitisation and project financings; and the wider real estate finance group acts regularly on the formation and structuring of asset-specific and pooled real estate funds and vehicles, limited partnerships, structured legal entities, and joint ventures of all kinds.
Leveraged Finance The European leveraged finance team is made up of specialist lawyers in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Munich, complemented by specialists in New York and other US financial centres. They are experienced in acting for leading mid-market private equity sponsors, banks and alternative credit providers. The work done by the leveraged finance team in London includes both sponsor and lender side transactions, with a focus on the lender side towards acting for the alternative credit providers.
The successful candidate will have a great deal of exposure to complex and high profile deals and enjoy day to day interaction with clients. The partners work closely with all of the team to provide hands-on mentoring and training whilst giving lawyers enough freedom to develop. A great deal of support is provided to help establish and develop client relationships on an individual and team-wide basis. Previous finance experience from a well-regarded City team is required.

Requirements
  • Previous experience of real estate finance and leveraged finance from a well-regarded City or international firm.
  • Ability to lead deals and interact with clients and senior business stakeholders.

  • Excellent written communication and drafting skills.
