Equity Research Associate - Big Cap Pharma - Top investment bank

Our client is a leading US investment bank who are now looking to recruit an equity research associate to their team. The position will focus on companies in the big cap pharmaceuticals sector.

Main Responsibilities / Deliverables:

• Writing detailed and thought provoking research on major pharmaceuticals companies with both an eye to the short term view as well as the longer-term drivers of value
• Dealing with company results. This would typically entail giving a "first glance" opinion, writing an initial post-results comment and talking through the results with the sales desk. Later on it would entail writing a note post the results meeting/conference call and going through any forecast changes in detail
• Liaising with company management to keep abreast of any developments
• Liaising with the sales desk and market maker to inform them of any developments that may affect the company's share price or give rise to a change in their opinion
• Assisting the team with any ad-hoc work. This is most likely to involve client requests
• Able to demonstrate drive and commitment to pursuing career in Equity Research

They are interested in meeting a professional who will have a background as follows:

- Equity analyst with another firm

- Strategy consultant with a firm like IMS, PA Consulting, McKinsey, PwC, Deloitte

- ACA with a big four accounting firm

- Business analyst from a pharmaceuticals company

- a degree in biology, lifesciences, pharmacology, medicine, chemistry, natural sciences or similar field

- real interest in financial markets
