Bishop Burton College is one of the leading land-based Colleges in the UK with strong and sustained growth in learner numbers. We have undergone a multi million pound campus development programme including significant investment in state of the art teaching and learning facilities, sports facilities, a commercially run farm and an international standard equestrian facility at our campus near Beverley in East Yorkshire.

With over 750 acres of arable land and a range of livestock enterprises, the College farm plays a key role in supporting the training and education of a wide range of students. The development of practical skills as well as involvement in research and trial work ensure the students become work ready. All staff are expected to become involved in the support and development of students whilst working to deliver excellent standards on this medium sized commercial unit. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in working within a vibrant environment.

Working on our 220 Commercial Pig Unit, you will be responsible for the daily care and welfare of our sows. You will be working alongside a team of stock persons including lecturers and students farrowing, feeding stock, slap marking and loading. A flexible approach to working hours is required as you will be required to work alternative weekends and early mornings.

A range of training opportunities are available and the ideal candidate must have at least 2 years previous experience with pigs including farrowing, weaning and Artificially Inseminating. A telehandler certificate and or skid steer certificate would be an advantage but not essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your skills working with pigs in a unique and multifaceted commercial farm environment.

Closing date: w/c 19th March

Interview date: w/c 9th April
