Who we are looking forThis is an internal role to provide maternity cover for one year assisting the Senior Manager in producing PwC's VAT (and other indirect tax returns) together with the provision of indirect tax advice to the rest of the Firm.

The team currently consists of the Head of Firm's VAT, Manager, Assistant Manager and 2 VAT clerks. This position reports into the Head of Firm's VAT and will adopt some line management responsibility for the team.

Key Objectives and responsibilities of this role will include the following:•Manage the team in preparing PwC's VAT returns plus relevant review.
•Provide indirect tax advice to the business as required e.g VAT liability queries on billing, acquisitions plus VAT recoveries on AP and expenses systems.
•Provide support in meetings and correspondence with HMRC.
•Establish good working relationships with the VAT team and colleagues.
•Assist with team objectives and individual's development

The position will be based in Hay's Galleria with regular visits to other London offices.

About the roleThe Firm's VAT team are responsible for PwC's VAT obligations. It ensures that the PwC UK Firm is VAT compliant for all its legal entities in the UK and abroad. It also supports other internal functions.

This is a great opportunity to experience a hands on role in industry by dealing with the day to day VAT issues affecting the Firm.

Clients include; PwC client facing teams (reviewing engagement letters and determining correct VAT treatment on billing), Internal Transaction Processing (acting in a support capacity on ad hoc queries) and IT (raising Change Management Requests for VAT alterations to the finance system and scoping requirements for developers). You will also support Facilities/Procurement, Office of General Counsel, Company Secretarial, AP, Expenses etc becoming a subject matter expert on VAT.


Requirements
Key skills:
•Sound technical VAT knowledge, the Law and its application
•Accounting knowledge ideally in SAP
•Team player - working closely with existing team and others in finance etc
•Confident - convince others of the merits of the advice being offered
•Ability to work under pressure - juggling priorities and meeting deadlines are regular features of the role
•Ability to initiate action - willingness to look for risk areas and follow through where necessary requiring self-motivation.
•Persistence - doesn't accept the "easy" way.
•Good communicator - must be able to convey VAT technical language in layman's terms
•Questioning - being able to fully explore situations to offer "best" advice


Qualifications: A VAT qualification would be an advantage.
