Proud of our reputation afforded to us by many centuries of dedication to the nation’s maritime infrastructure, we are a forward-thinking organisation and it is our ability to meet new challenges and the changing requirements of the modern mariner that keeps us relevant and effective.
The following posts are based at our St Just offices in Cornwall, but will involve extensive UK travel with extended time away from home.
Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician
£25,383 pa rising to £31,423 pa dependent upon experience, plus overtime and benefits package, including Civil Service pension
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a technical team responsible for the maintenance and repair of our aids to navigation, lighthouses, and other installations. You will be working on a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment. The working environments can vary from land based installations to those that are off shore, many requiring access over rough ground. Given the location of the stations it is a requirement of the post to spend significant time away from home working and living in close proximity of your work colleagues. This, coupled with the physical nature of the duties involved, will require appropriate levels of health and fitness. Modes of transport to access the installations can be a combination of road transport, boat and helicopter.
To be considered for this post, it is essential that you have a BTEC level 3 or equivalent in an Electrical/Mechanical based engineering discipline. Previous experience in a technical maintenance role is also essential, along with a thorough working knowledge of health and safety legislation. You must possess good IT skills and written communication skills including report writing. The starting salary is dependent upon experience and is scalable as above, increasing via progression through the competency framework attached to this position. Due to the remote locations of our work, non-guaranteed overtime is available and averages around £5-8k per annum
Closing date for applications: midnight on Wednesday 21st March 2018.
Interviews to be held in St Just on Tuesday 27th March 2018. Trinity House is an Equal Opportunities Employer
