An opportunity has arisen for a HR Assistant on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract to join our HR team based at the Research and Development site in Wantage, Oxfordshire. This is a key role supporting a small team of HR generalists to a site of around 300 employees.

Recruitment and Selection:
This role will provide support to the recruitment and selection process including, preparation of job descriptions, person specifications and adverts, diary management, booking interviews and liaising with candidates. You will be required to be part of the interviewing process, testing candidates and participating in the decision making process. You will also support assessment centre interviews, and careers fairs, preparing documentation, requesting references carrying out the necessary pre-employment checks.

Training and Development:
You will support in house training and development activities, including, participation in course design, coordination of internal training courses, booking courses internal and external, producing training documentation to support internal courses.

HR Processes and Projects:
You will assist with the implementation and maintenance of the HR Information System, improving the processes, you will be required to update and maintain the intranet and HR Information System, as well effectively managing both electronic and physical employee files and documents relevant to the HR department.

Job requirements:

  • CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in HR Practice or relevant HR qualification (a degree in HR, Social Sciences, Business Studies or similar would be desirable for this role)
  • A minimum of one year's previous experience working within a relevant HR role
  • Previous experience using a HR Information System
  • Interviewing experience ideally within a Research and Development environment
  • Pervious University and School liaison experience

You will be an excellent communicator with exceptional organisational skills together with ability to multi-task and prioritise. You will have excellent attention to detail, be numerate, and will have good working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, and Word.
