Architectural Technician

Your new company
Your new employer are a small, Architectural Practice situated in Eastbourne (a 10-minute walk from the town centre and train station), that specialise in residential projects ranging from single units to new housing developments but also deal with extensions and conversions. The team is currently made up of 4 members but they are looking to take on a new Architectural Technician due to some team changes planned over the coming months. The firm pride themselves on being a close knit team and describe themselves as having a studio-like culture, sharing ideas and supporting each other through all stage of a project. They even have a resident, office dog.

Your new role
As an Architectural Technician, you will be required to use your experience of AutoCAD to prepare drawings to meet a client's needs. The office currently has access to AutoCAD, VectorWorks, ArchiCAD and SketchUp, so should be able to suit your chosen software. Additionally, you may be required to collaborate with other members of the team and complete feasibility studies, concept design and planning applications. In time, you will have the opportunity to run and lead projects, working closely with clients as well as liaising with planners from project inception to completion.

What you'll need to succeed
You should proactive and have the initiative and drive to work on your own devices but equally, ask for help if there is an area you are not sure of. Ideally, you should have experience in a variety of areas, with a good understanding of the residential sector. The team is made up of Architectural Technicians and so a background in this area, would be ideal. You should be open to collaborating within the team and have experience of completing planning applications. A good knowledge of building regulations within the residential sector would also be beneficial.

The salary is negotiable, depending on your level of experience.
