Who we are

Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe Limited (HNE) is a major UK company set-up to provide the management and delivery of a variety of UK and European nuclear projects. Its first major role is to lead Hitachi's work in the Menter Newydd joint venture, delivering Early Contractor support to Horizon Nuclear Power, in preparation for construction of their nuclear new build project at Wylfa Newydd.

Join us now and you will have a key role to play in one of the biggest and most exciting infrastructure engineering projects in the UK, leading the way in the utilisation of leading-edge technologies and processes.

The role

This is a high-profile opportunity to lead an integrated Project Management team through the design and engineering phase of the UK project to deliver the required Wylfa Newydd Safety Cases. That means establishing and setting the direction - ensuring that everyone in the team knows and executes their role and understands the roles of other team members - and driving delivery. As well as ensuring team members feel empowered and supported.

Taking responsibility for the project management of the delivery of all Safety Case engineering topic activities, your remit is the development of project plans including schedule and budgets and ultimately driving project delivery. You will also be responsible for managing interaction with internal and external project stakeholders including the UK nuclear regulators and all relevant project communication,

Whilst you will be based at our Gloucester headquarters, there will be frequent travel to the site in Anglesey, as well as other locations for example Bootle and including overseas.

Your skills, knowledge and experience

You will have a proven track-record in project management, supported by formal project management training, an engineering background and significant experience of interfacing with the nuclear regulators. Extensive experience gained in the nuclear or similar industry, together with an understanding of the regulatory environment and first-hand knowledge of working with specialist bodies/agencies is crucial.

In addition to your proven technical skills, you will need the ability to lead, manage and motivate an integrated project team of project managers, subject matter experts and engineers across multiple technical disciplines including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, C&I etc. As this is a senior role it is equally important that you're able to deal with people at all levels and communicate effectively, both internally and outside the organisation.

The nature of the role means that you may be required to hold BPSS UK Security Clearance.

Rewards and benefits

For the right person the rewards include a highly competitive salary plus a range of company funded benefits, including personal pension and medical insurance, plus the opportunity to self-fund other benefits from childcare vouchers to gym membership
