Non-Executive Member of the Patient Safety Group
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is looking for an enthusiastic individual to serve as a member on its Patient Safety Group. Working closely with departments across the College, the Patient Safety Group undertakes an important role in the College drive towards the enhancement of patient safety through education, quality assurance, team working and consistent processes. The Group meets two to three times a year.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
The closing date for applications is 27 March 2018. Interviews will be held at the beginning of April.
The appointment is for a period of three years. Membership is unremunerated; all expenses shall be reimbursed.

- previous experience as a surgical patient, or as a relative of someone who is or has been a surgical patient;
- a strong and objective interest in the matters of patient safety and the improvement of surgical delivery;
- previous committee experience in the public or private sectors;
- a commitment to work in the College's best interests, in accordance with its standards and values;
- confidence to challenge constructively;
- an ability to handle confidential information; and
- excellent interpersonal skills.
