Location: Brighton (Falmer)
Salary: £25k-£35k Position: Permanent

Our client is a leading flood risk and flood modelling consultancy. From its inception over 15 years ago they have grown to become a renowned global leader in flood modelling and flood risk.

Their UK consultancy team are dynamic, innovative and dedicated to ensuring that their clients achieve the best possible outcomes. The primary work is supporting Private Developers (small and large) as well as supporting Councils and Government in better understanding Flood Risk and Surface Water Drainage. They make the complicated simple. The team is made up of Chartered Engineers and Environmental Consultants who boast a wealth of experience having worked in the field and office-based consultancy.

About the Role

As a Drainage Engineer / Civil Engineer based in Brighton (Falmer), you will undertake surface water drainage strategies, for outline planning, full planning and design. Where required support overland flow models, river modelling, river floodplain and direct rainfall modelling, hydrological analyses, supporting engineering design and CAD work where required as well as writing reports.

Their work as detailed is primarily focused toward development and construction.

You will bring at least two years’ experience of assessing and designing SuDS schemes and be familiar with existing and emerging national drainage standards. This role will see you meeting with clients (in the UK and potentially overseas) and as such you will be part of a vibrant and enthusiastic national team that is leading the industry in flood risk and water management across the UK and abroad.

To be successful in this role you will hold a Minimum BSc/BEng in water/environment/civil engineering, have experience of using some of the software/programs below:

Hydraulic modelling skills with exposure or ability to use one or more of the following packages:

- MicroDrainage WinDES,ISIS, ISIS 2D, HEC-RAS, TuFLOW, Flood Modeller, INFOWORKS RS/CS/ICM, MIKE11/21,

Hydrological assessment skills with one or more of the following:

- FEH methods, (WINFAP FEH v2 or v3), FEH CD-ROM, ReFH, IOH124, Wallingford procedure, direct rainfall estimation

Ability to use and understand MicroDrainage is a necessity

- AutoCad proficient

In addition you will ideally be working towards chartered status within CIWEM or ICE, have experience in undertaking drainage assessments and design, SuDS analysis and assessments, FRAs, SFRAs, SWMPs in the UK and be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills (to be utilised in report writing and presenting to clients). You will work effectively as part of a wider team and be client focused with an excellent commercial acumen.
