Sales Engineer (Graduate or Experienced)

This position is perfect for either a Graduate (ideally in an Engineering or Science discipline) or an experienced hire (12+ months) in Technical Sales.

Our client is one of Europe's largest machine vision & imaging technology provider boasting a headquarters in Germany and subsidiaries in the UK and most other Northern European countries.

They provide equipment that goes into a variety of markets, ranging from inspecting automotive components, aerial imaging, sports applications (e.g. golf simulators and cameras in Tennis, Cricket and Football), traffic applications such as speed cameras and bus lane enforcement cameras as well as industrial automation, manufacturing, robotics and many more!

As a Machine Vision & Imaging specialist, they supply a broad range of solutions such as; Camera’s, Vision Systems, Software, Lighting, Optics and many more in order to offer customers the full solution they need.

Due to continued growth and success, they are recruiting within their Sales team for both Graduate level and/or experienced hires (12+ months).

The Vision Industry

With the development, growth and demand for AI, Computer Vision and Technology, Machine Vision is growing rapidly and as such, is currently estimated to have a global worth of around $14bn expected to rise to over $20bn in the next 5 years. It is certainly one of the most fast-growing sectors in the world and without a doubt, one that will remain at the forefront of ground-breaking technology advances.

What is Machine Vision? Machine Vision is a complex, varied and extremely technical field however, in its simplest form, Machine Vision is the use of digital, non-contact optical/imaging devices in order to automatically interpret a product, image or ‘real scene’ and provide automatic data to the End User.

It’s used for a variety of purposes ranging in discipline and industry, but it’s typically used in order to provide a super-fast, accurate and cost-effective way of streamlining a manufacturing or production process by reducing the need of human interaction or involvement.

Some examples:

  • Manufacturers use Machine Vision technology to scan chocolate moulds before putting to use to identify any defects, damage or aesthetic faults with the moulds before chocolate is poured.
  • Manufactures of bank notes use Vision Technology to scan (in super-fast speed) the money and detect any printing defects, tears or damage to notes prior to release.
  • Sports, Entertainment and Broadcasters use Vision Technology to provide real-time analysis and data of scenario’s. (think; Wimbledon Tennis, Football or Cricket!

Brief description about the role

  • You will join a growing team in state of the art offices with an onsite training centre.
  • If you are a Graduate Sales Engineer, you will spend much of YR 1 learning. You won’t have a target but will be expected to learn as much as you can, as quickly as you can. You time will be divided into 33% Learning, 33% Customer Interaction and 33% Sales Development
  • For a more experienced hire, you will spend the first 12 months learning the technology as well as using your existing Sales skills to build customer relationships, visit customer sites and shadow more experienced members of the team
  • You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced Sales people in the Vision industry and be part of a true powerhouse in this fascinating sector.
