The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology seeks to appoint a new Head of its Electronics Workshop. An opportunity has arisen to assume the leadership role of a small team of electronics engineers that provides an instrumentation design facility to this world-renowned laboratory.

The position offers tremendous opportunities for the head of the workshop to exercise their creative and technical skills to design and develop innovative equipment used by some of the world’s leading scientists. The Head of the Electronics workshop will have responsibility for a wide variety of design and development projects that call for original and inventive approaches.

The successful applicant will ideally hold a graduate level qualification in an engineering or scientific discipline, and have experience in instrumentation design and team management. Excellent communication skills are required because interacting with other engineering and scientific support departments, as well as scientific staff, is essential for this position.

The well-equipped workshop is housed in a new state-of-the-art building that provides first-class facilities, and an excellent working environment.
