Established charity using Sport to improve education for disadvantaged children across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, are seeking a Finance & Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the National Director, and working with the wide UK team and International finance team, the Finance & Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the UK office and the effective financial management of the charity. A very rewarding broad hands-on role supporting a diverse and inspiring stakeholder group globally. Key responsibilities To have overall responsibility for the receipt, safekeeping and banking of all monies received To ensure that all donations and other income are recorded in the accounting and database management systems in a timely and accurate manner To liaise with external auditors in financial statement preparation and on all tax matters To provide timely and accurate monthly management reports To prepare financial reports for presentation to the Finance and Audit Committee and the Board of Trustees, and to support the annual audit and Annual Accounts To manage the cash flow for the charity and to ensure a 3-month reserve is maintained To ensure that statutory requirements of the Charities Commission, HMRC, Companies House and charity regulators are satisfied Personal attributes 3+ years of experience in a financial role and educated to degree standard or equivalent A high level of proficiency at producing and reviewing management accounts to ensure accuracy and robust forecasting Solid understanding of general accounting concepts, including double entry book keeping and accruals accounting Experience of using accounting systems, such as Sage, and strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of using database systems such as Microsoft CRM or Raisers Edge Experience of a year-end audit and an understanding of FRS 102 Experience working in a charity and an understanding of charity regulations Experience of managing an office including tenancy and office equipment AfID are leading specialists in supporting NGOs operating globally with their financial management capacity & recruitment needs, on both a 'pro-bono' & ,commercial' basis.
