Based in London or Paris and reporting directly to the Global Product Leader, Hull, the Underwriting Analyst position supports the AGCS Hull Management in profitably maintaining, steering and reviewing an existing insurance portfolio in close cooperation with the Hull underwriting hubs and other internal and external clients and stakeholders.

Portfolio Analysis & Research
•Qualitative technical analysis of the Global Hull Portfolio in close cooperation with the 4 main hubs including sub hubs.
•Conduct technical quantitative and qualitative analyses of trends within the Hull area
•Research Marine related developments and market trends

Reporting and Steering Framework
•Maintain and monitor global data quality of tools like RMS, Open exposure, APTE
•Compile, analyze, and construe information provided by internal and external sources

Business support
•Support the Global Head of Marine and the Global Product Leader to manage technical referral regarding line size, terms & condition •Provide facultative support, effective rate change; maintain technical advisory role to assist hubs in risk assessment and wording compilation
•Coordinate with internal and external clients like Allianz Oe, Hull clients and brokers and others
•Carry out data gathering and clear portfolio data for internal and external clients; support RI submission and placement; technical input for the planning dialogue
•Cooperation with claims iro of lesson learnt as well as other Allianz OE iro the Centre of Competence role

Qualitative Underwriting Framework
•Participate in regular Hull Business Reviews as required, remotely and onsite with focus on technical assessment of the portfolio •Cooperation with Audit and other overlooking entities

Tools & Reporting
•Overlook and maintain technical data quality in various tools used by Marine; support compilation of reports like premium split and Cat premium reports

Projects & Initiatives
•Represent Hull as requested in AGCS working groups, project and ad hoc projects like Artic Initiative Working group, APTE pricing, CoC

Required experience
•Experience in International Underwriting P&C Business
•Understanding of relevant technical parameter of an insurance portfolio
•Successful track of working in complex matrix environments, project experience
•Experience of working internationally with good ability for cross border adaption
•Strong analytical, numerical and adaptive problem solving skills, using logical and methodological approach

Required education
•Degree in Business Administration / Mathematics / Statistics / Finance and/or Actuarial background
•Insurance degree is of advantage

Technical skills
•Risk Assessment and Management: ability to assess risk inherent exposures and (natural) hazards relevant to LoB
•Portfolio Management: manage the underwriting books, monitor appropriate investments and allocate funds accordingly; analyze trends and scenario plans
•Contract Drafting and Interpretation: design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings
•Pricing: analyze current performance against various benchmarks with a view to ensure adequate progress and satisfactory performance

General skills
•Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire
•Strategic Planning: Ability to develop, implement and communicate strategies to address important trends or changes in the business
•Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story
•Negotiation and conflict management: Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties
