Department Profile:

The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors.

Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, we continually strive to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

Team Profile:

The Business Management team is responsible for all aspects of business management in relation to Shared Services and Banking Ops including: analysing/validating Global/Regional Silo financials, headcount (all resources from Full Time Employees to Contingent workers), budget projections/submissions, allocations, location strategy and Capacity and Constraints modelling. The team work closely with the Senior SSBO Management team and stakeholders to assist in understanding financials vs , budget/Forecast, highlighting trends with regards to risks and opportunities and additionally support any upcoming deliverables that may impact their businesses. Primary Responsibilities:

- Direct support of the Senior Management team within the SSBO silos (MD and ED level) and Central Business Management group supporting the Operations group globally
- Monthly & Quarterly Financial Reporting and Analysis, including preparation of business metrics for Senior Stakeholders, facilitating the introduction of new processes (and supporting materials from a Financial perspective) leading to presentation of the material
- Budget projections, tracking to financial/headcount targets and communicating results internally to SSBO and externally to the supported businesses
- Risk and Opportunity tracking to ensure effective use of resources (both heads and dollars) across the organisation
- Overseeing standard cyclical processes such as changes to allocations, risk and opportunity tracking, Headcount reconciliations/changes
- Senior Management presentation/documentation support throughout the year (examples, weekly executive summary, Headcount reporting, Annual Business Review, Budget/Forecast summary)
- Problem solving, Data Analysis and ad hoc work coordinated across different SSBO sub silos as needed
- Budgeting, re-forecast and reporting. Execution of annual Budget/Forecast process for the SSBO organisation, including Headcount planning for submission in line with department and overall Ops targets. Calculation and submission of non-headcount related expense budget/forecast ensuring that all parts of the supported business has the relevant funding to execute on the Senior Management agreed strategy
- Proactive day to day management and prioritization of tasks as required by the lead Business Manager and COO
- Work with Hiring Managers, Finance, HR and Sourcing teams to support headcount planning, reporting and on boarding activities

Qualifications
Skills Required:

- Expense Management experience including budgeting & financial reporting
- Role is heavily Senior Management focused with the candidate expected to face off directly with Silo leads with SSBO
- Possess strong networking, written and verbal communication skills; capable of building cross-team relationships
- Must be a self-starter, able to manage own time and deliverables and comfortable driving execution
- Must be able to challenge, develop and improve processes
- Must have sound communication skills and ability to tailor communication style for senior management
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt existing skills in a new environment quickly
- Ability to understand complex problems quickly and move projects forward
- Accuracy and attention to detail is fundamental to being successful in role
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
