Our client is a leading supplier of generators. We are currently looking to recruit a depot-based generator technician/service engineer to join their team in Port Talbot. Although this is a depot-based role this individual will be included in the on call rota so a service vehicle will be included in a competitive package.
The main focus of the role of generator technician/Service engineer is to carry out inspection and testing of all fleet (diesel and gas generators) returned from hire. This includes carrying out maintenance and repair of the Fleet in the depot and preparing rental packages for upcoming hires.

Key responsibilities:
• Multi generator synchronising
• Minor and major repair of all generator fleet
• Pre dispatch inspection
• Ensure equipment is actioned promptly in order to maintain maximum availability in a cost effective manner
• Provide technical support to service engineers, depot staff and customers
• Ensure safety clothing and equipment is used at all times and that all safety procedures and practices are adhered to and that the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained

Electrical
• Basic electrical fault finding • Alternator configuration
• Load testing of fleet
• Low voltage switching
• Low voltage maintenance
• Low voltage isolation
• Carry out main alternator maintenance process

QHSE
• Maintain the yard and workshop in a neat and tidy state.
• Ensure all yard/workshop equipment in safe/good working order

General
• Unloading and loading of vehicles
• On call as and when required

Other
The duties described above cover the main focus of the role, however from time to time you may be required to carry out any other duties which are reasonable and within your abilities to support other areas of the business. This may include but is not limited to Field Based Servicing or Delivery duties as and when the need arises.

Education/Qualifications
• Time-served Mechanical and or Electrical apprenticeship
• Previous experience servicing generators
• Must hold a full, clean and valid driving licence
