Summary

Cambridge News, part of the Trinity Mirror Group are seeking a talented journalist to be our new social media editorial team.

We need a journalist of newsdesk standard, who has the intellect, drive and digital skills to manage our social media. As a dynamic and thoughtful front-line journalist, you will be comfortable managing the newsroom's social media operation, maximising all opportunities for audience engagement and interaction.

Our Business:

Trinity Mirror has an award-winning portfolio of newspapers, websites and digital products. It is one of the UK's largest multi-media companies, employing more than 6,000 people across 60 locations.

Back in the 19th century, our drive to capture, present and analyse the news inspired the launch of our very first papers. Today our commitment to local news is just as strong. Whether on page or screen, our audiences receive the trusted, reliable news service they have come to expect.

Readers and advertisers are attracted by the comprehensive and detailed coverage that our iconic brands, including the Cambridge News, the Manchester Evening News and the Liverpool Echo, provide. None of this would be possible without our dedicated employees who drive the business forward.

Package

In addition to competitive salaries, bonus structures (if applicable) and a contributory pension scheme, Trinity Mirror Group plc offer a whole host of voluntary flexible benefits. These include a car scheme, holiday purchase, childcare vouchers, cycle scheme, staff discounts, season tickets & parking loans and an employee assistance programme.

We are committed to equal opportunity for all. We may collect relevant data for monitoring as part of our candidate registration process. We will be reviewing applications as they are received so please don't delay in submitting your application.

Main Responsibilities

You will also play a key role in keeping our homepage up-to-date, so being able to edit copy to a high standard is a must. You will help manage our Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, Instagram posts and you will instinctively know what our audience wants to read - creating crisp and accurate copy to suit. Knowing how to handle video and photographers to maximise your audience is key.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate is required to hold a Trinity Mirror or equivalent qualification (or relevant time-served experience) combined with first class digital skills and experience of using a web content management system.

A solid understanding of SEO, social media platforms and applying learning through digital analytics is essential. You will be driven and motivated with experience of managing a team and working under pressure. Excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work and excellent attention to detail is required in order to achieve success in this role.
