This company provides outsourced IT services to clients ranging from 10-150 users mainly the M4 corridor and London, they have been in business for 19 years and are a small friendly business, everything is approached with common sense, both for their clients and staff. This environment isn't for everyone but does suit people who can manage their own time.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

Implementation Engineer (50%) - you will take full ownership of your own projects from start to finish, these projects could be as small as a 10 user office 365 migration but as large as 100+ staff with on-premise servers, virtualisation and storage. You will need to be comfortable working on small environments as well as large ones due to a varied client base.

Consultancy (30%) - you will meet with clients to discuss their strategic needs and make recommendations for the development of the clients IT environment, including carrying out assessments for prospective clients and presenting your findings.

Support Escalations (20%) - some of your time will be spent assisting the support team when they have work which they cannot handle, you will need to ensure that skills and knowledge are transferred to this team rather than fixing the problem in isolation to ensure the continued development of less senior staff.

This role is mainly office based at their Head Office in Langley (Slough), but due to the nature of project work will require some travel to client sites which are typically within 1 hour travel of the office. Typically someone in this role would spend more than 90% of their time in the office as most projects can be prepped and implemented remotely.

Who would this role suit

You will have exposure to the full lifecycle of project work, right from the initial design and scoping, through to implementation and eventually support. This role will suit anyone who prefers to see things through from start to finish, rather than someone who prefers to work on an isolated part of a larger project in a specialist way. With this in mind the role is definitely suited to someone with a very broad set of skills and will not suit anyone wishing to specialise in any particular area.

- Excellent customer service with a willingness to help and solve problems
- Ambition to develop with a thirst for knowledge
- Ability to write concise documentation
- A driving licence is essential (a pool car is available when visiting client sites)

- Good understanding of Active Directory and all associated services
- Good understanding of the common Backup and Anti-Virus products
- Good understanding of networking technologies
- Certifications are not as essential as relevant experience
