Senior Drainage/Flood Risk Engineer/Scientist

An excellent long-term career growth opportunity for an ambitious high potential specialist offering a diverse project mix with a leading player in the sector.

Cardiff, South Wales

Our client is a private, UK-based engineering consultancy with a well-established reputation, specialising in design led civil and structural engineering projects.  Its portfolio includes an exciting and diverse mix of public and private sector clients, including infrastructure, high-quality, architecturally impressive properties, industrial structures and wide-ranging commercial developments. Their clients and their people are at the heart of everything they do.

As a Senior Drainage/Flood Risk Engineer/Scientist, you’ll be involved in a fascinating range of drainage and flood projects, encompassing the design of foul water drainage systems and pumping stations, in addition to the design of surface water drainage systems and connections to both sewers for adoption and DMRB.  Getting to grips with the operational implications of water main design/rehabilitation and using MicroDrainage modelling software, you’ll also handle water authority statutory approval processes, as well as planning policy and infrastructure design requirements relating to flood risk management.

Other key accountabilities include:

  • business modelling for flood and coastal erosion risk management schemes
  •  flood estimation handbook techniques
  •  feasibility studies and business case development

With a degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Physical Geography or Environmental Science and ideally a Masters, you have Chartered Engineer status with either MICE or CIWEM qualifications.

Your significant track record in the field is underpinned by strong client-facing capabilities and the confidence to contribute to design teams as a fully engaged team player.  A good brief-taker and report-writer, with an in-depth understanding of the development and construction processes, who works well with contractors, you’re a first-class communicator who works efficiently with good time management skills.  Strong on IT, especially MS Office, you have a full, clean UK driving licence, the willingness to travel and live within a commutable distance of Cardiff.

In addition to a negotiable salary, the comprehensive benefits include contributory pension scheme; long-term illness cover; life cover; a dynamic, vibrant young office.

The company is offering clear opportunity for long-term career growth and the role will appeal to ambitious high quality individuals on an upward trajectory in their career.
